WHEN SHOULD I BE CONCERNED ABOUT MY NECK PAIN?

If you suffer from neck pain, you had probably considered getting a professional consultation. Neck pain is common among a lot of people due to various reasons. These can be brought about by poor postures like the “text neck,” which is usually the case, and more severe cases.

Those who suffer from more severe neck pain tend to have their daily lives affected. You may not know it, but your neck pain might be the key to discover underlying health issues that need urgent attention.

When Should You Be Concerned About Neck Pain?

Neck pain can vary in duration, such as:

Acute – Lasting in less than 4 weeks

Subacute – Lasting from 4 weeks to 12 weeks

Chronic – Lasting for 3 months to more

Chronic neck pain is considered a serious situation and should not be neglected because it could directly impact your life as you work or study. Chronic neck pain is continuous and debilitating. Such a situation will hinder you from being your best self and accomplishing your goals. Sufferers mostly experience lesser hours of sleep resulting in weak body conditions.

There are several indicators you need to watch out for. You should be concerned with your neck pain if any of the following symptoms accompany it:

  1. Fever or chills
  2. Pain that runs down from the neck to the arms or pain that runs down from the lower back to the legs
  3. Inability to balance
  4. Difficulty in finding relief or almost no relief
  5. Numbness or weakness
  6. Weight loss without dieting

It is also advisable to schedule a consultation if you suffered from a severe accident that caused trauma like falling off a motor vehicle or if you roughly hit your forehead or chin. Such accidents will most probably cause nerve damage and injure the C1 and C2 vertebrae. Only pain and discomfort will follow if you fail to provide care after the injury.

Neck Pain And Upper Cervical Health

The neck supports our head’s weight and, more importantly, connects the head to the rest of our body. It does so with the help of C1 and C2 vertebrae, which makes neck movements possible.

Neck pain is related to the misalignment of the upper cervical region. In this case, a chiropractor visit does wonders and eventually leads to finding a suitable solution. To do so, tests will be conducted first using digital x-rays y and thermal imaging devices to address your neck pain. The results will determine whether chiropractic care will be advantageous to your situation.

If any upper cervical trauma is discovered, the upper cervical chiropractor will apply chiropractic adjustments and a variety of care. If correctly applied, therapeutic, precise adjustments can relax the neck muscles.  This will start a process that allows the body to heal itself. The nervous system function will be restored, and the pain-inducing inflammation will stop reoccurring.

The body will return to its normal and healthy condition. You can also expect improvements in your body movement and flexibility.
